It is critical that you have up-to-date antivirus installed on all your pc’s in your office. It keeps you safe from attacks that can stop your business and it keeps your patient information safe from prying eyes. It’s even a requirement in Australia due to section 4 of the National Privacy Principles.

Antivirus

But which antivirus to use?

That’s easy. If you have less than 10 pc’s in your office, use Windows Defender. It’s free, it’s fast and it doesn’t pop up all the time to tell you how great it is… it just gets on with the job. It’s already there right in Windows 10… and best of all, it’s fully compatible with Spinalogic.

If you really want to use a third-party Antivirus, you need to choose one that is compatible with Spinalogic. See below.

Third Party Options

We only support use of Windows Defender.

If you really really want to use a different Antivirus, there are some we definitely know will not work:

  • Avast
  • AVG
  • McAfee

We have tested the following Antivirus software successfully:

  • Bitdefender Antivirus Plus
  • Trend Micro

The antivirus must not include a firewall. It will not work with Spinalogic.

Be aware that good third-party antivirus is not free. In fact, there are experts who believe you are at more risk with free antivirus that you are with Windows Defender.

Remember also, locations such as Arrivals, Checkout and most likely Adjusting are never used for general web browsing or email and so don’t present a security risk at all.

Firewall

Windows has it’s own firewall. It’s fine. Just use that. It causes no problems with Spinalogic. In fact, Spinalogic configures Windows Firewall so you won’t have any problems.

We only support use of Windows Firewall.
